Logging in to Your Desk
Your Web Desk provides a handy set of personalized links to classrooms and other points of interest on our website. Your desk setup information is stored in a browser "cookie" – a tiny data file generated by our server and stored on your hard drive. It eliminates the need for you to log in again and again as you navigate around our virtual campus.
Most browsers accept cookies by default so if you haven't changed this setting, no action on your part is required. If you keep returning to the login page and being asked to enter your User ID, it means your browser is rejecting cookies. To fix this problem, just follow the instructions for your browser and version provided below:
Firefox 1.x+ – We've created a help file for Firefox users with step-by-step instructions on configuring your browser to accept cookies. Please follow this link.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x – On the browser toolbar, click Tools, Internet Options, and then Privacy. Slide the bar to Medium.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 - 5.5 – On the browser toolbar, click Tools / Internet Options / Advanced. Click the "Internet" icon, then the Custom Level button. Scroll down to Cookies. When you see Allow Cookies that are stored on your computer, click Enable. Just below that, for All per-session cookies (not stored), click Enable. Click OK to close the dialog boxes.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 – On the browser toolbar, click View / Internet Options / Advanced. Click the radio button for Always accept cookies under Cookies in the Security heading. Click OK.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 – On the browser toolbar, click View / Options, then the Advanced tab. Uncheck Warn before Accepting Cookies in the Warnings area. Click the Security tab, then Safety Level. Choose Medium and click OK. Click OK to close the Options dialog box.
– On the browser toolbar, click Edit | Preferences | Advanced. In the Cookies section, click Accept only cookies that get sent back to the originating server. Uncheck Warn me before accepting a cookie or you'll get frequent, annoying messages. Click OK.
Netscape Navigator 3.0 – On the browser menu, click Options / Network Preferences. Click Protocols and uncheck Accepting a Cookie in the Show an Alert Before area. Click OK.
